Menswear Labels in Singapore
Shopping for menswear in Singapore is challenging for guys
I have been struggling with getting good quality men clothes that doesn’t come with a crazy price tag.
And there are lots of fast fashion brands that give really ‘cheap’ quality and geez, the first tee shirt I’ve ever bought from H&M happens to be the exact same design with a ‘boy’ near my neighbourhood. I saw him wearing that tee while waiting for the bus (I said ‘boy’ because he looks at he’s still in Secondary school, probably 15 or 16 years old).
It’s frustrating.
Non-the-less, I would like to share with my readers these brands I’ve discovered over the years that are contributing to the menswear scene in Singapore. I’ve personally bought from them on a few occasion and they are my usual go-to shirts for special events like attending a friend’s wedding, clubbing or company’s function.
Some of these brands normally gets attention and are conversation starters in these functions. I also try to share and spread the words for our local brands.
Anyway, these are the usual ones I frequent: Snort Label, Sundays and Benjamin Barker.
Snort Label – Love their iconic granddad collar shirts! And I always, always get attention when I wear their shirts out. I only own two of their shirts (Thin stripe Grandad collar and a Henley) and three of their tees though, but they are really nice.
One thing they can work on is to increase the frequency of which they make new designs though. I guess it’s because men’s clothes simply doesn’t sell as fast in Singapore because I notice the same trend with the next brand…
Sundays – I first spotted this brand in Tangs (years back!). Not cheap I must say. Sundays’ tees are really my go-to item every weekend and overseas trips. And yes, I brought them to over during my last Bali trip with Julia.
And last but not least…
Benjamin barker – You must think I go for their working shirt, but I don’t. Not that they are not nice, but simply because I personally feel that for that price point I can actually have my shirts tailored (which I do).
I buy my informal suits from Benjamin baker though. They have some really nice mix of fabric and details like button thread colors as well as the color of the buttons.
